Based on results of the audit energy hotel done by usaid iced in 2014, the average consumption of energy intensity ( IKE ) hotel in indonesia now reaching 393 kwh / m years. The rate is much of the criteria with efficient air-conditioned hotel room , which is about 145 kwh / m2 year. Large amount of IKE induced by the use of the facilities system contained in hotel especially to a system of artificial light and air which reached 65 % of total energy used. High proportion of electricity use on both these systems, make these systems become main targets of austerity program or energy efficiency. The use of electricity in the hotel can be optimized by energy-efficient architecture approach which is based on the idea to minimize the use of energy without limit or change function building, comfort and productivity of its inhabitants by using up-to-date science and technology actively. It could be achieved by utilize of natural aeration and lighting to reduce electricity consumption due to aeration and artificial lighting The research method which applied are literature study about definition and principle of architecture energy efficiency with several precedent studies both domestic and overseas hotel building which had energy efficient architecture approach. Furthur study, energy consumption simulation software is used to help determine the design of City Hotel which can optimize the use of electricity at the site which has been selected. from this study, conducted that the application of the principles of energy efficient architecture can optimize the use of electricity at City Hotel by cooling the building envelope. This can be achieved by the configuration of building form and orientation, building plan and section, building envelope, windows design openings and the instrument of energy efficient.
